Saskia Knibbeler

Ko Saskia Knibbeler toku ingoa.

I take a creative approach to making complex leadership concepts understandable and accessible. I like to combine story-telling, humour, visual media and interaction to create an engaging learning environment. I have the technical skill means to support individuals and teams working remotely; both by making the most of the online platforms available to create engagement, but also by supporting indivuals in increasing their own comfort levels around leading from ‘home’.

My background in HR and involvement in varied organisations have given me a great foundational understanding of the challenges faced by teams. My career development has not been linear, but rather been driven by a desire to explore, learn and understand, and therefore her engagements have been broad and varied. I have worked in organisations such as Bank of New Zealand, ACC, State Services Commission, and for the last decade, with the Centre for Vision and Leadership (CVL).

My background was as a Human Resource generalist, before becoming a Senior Management Consultant with a focus helping organisations support their people through change. This experience has made me comfortable and adaptable in working with all levels of leadership, and I feel particularly passionate about helping new or inexperienced leaders achieve their own and their team’s potential. For some years, my role was the end-to-end process of designing, facilitating and supporting change leadership programmes. Lately, I’ve narrowed my focus to facilitation and coaching to better help individuals lead their teams.

My Whakapapa

I was born in The Netherlands in the 1970s and moved, with my parents and sister, to New Zealand in 1980. My Dutch background gave me my practical and pragmatic approach, while my Indonesian grandmother and great aunts built a strong value set around family, community and history. Creativity, curiosity and interest in people dynamics were fostered in me from a young age.

We travelled a lot as a family when I was growing up, both in Europe and within Aotearoa New Zealand. I have a cat called Charles Casper the Good Luck Cat who became somewhat of a celebrity recently as we travelled te motu together for a year. In my spare time, I enjoy a bit of gaming and exploring new and innovative technologies.
