Associate Consultant and Coach

Ryan Meachen is a certified leadership and positive psychology coach, and Assistant Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington.
Ryan’s coaching helps individuals clarify their vision of who they wish to become and how they can live their path to get there. His belief is that clarity about your ideal future is what unlocks motivation and intentional action. But sometimes, life throws us a curveball that knocks us off the path. Or, we climb one mountain and wonder “what do I do next?”.
The heart of Ryan’s work is that the most important leadership project is leading your own life. Leading your own life is the first critical step for leading others—especially for leaders called to help others live fulfilling lives too.
Ryan draws on mātauranga Māori and contemporary psychological science in his work. For him, mana is the foundation for leadership—you can’t lead others until you can stand in your mana.
He is completing his PhD in Organisational Behaviour, researching how individuals find their path, realise their potential and lead happy and fulfilling lives. He holds an MBA from Victoria University of Wellington and a B.Sc. He is a former Fulbright Scholar at Harvard’s Leadership & Happiness Laboratory.
Ryan has delivered coaching, leadership development and organisational wellbeing programmes across the public and private sectors. He has lectured on these topics throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand, as well as during his time in Boston at Harvard.
